Guatemala!

Luke and I were able to get away in mid-December for five days to go to a great family-friend's destination wedding in Panajachel, Guatemala! We had the most wonderful time celebrating with Chis and Heather...and the whole Sheets family. It was a simply gorgeous place. Felt like a second honeymoon for Luke and I! Thanks to our families for helping with the kids so we could get away. Our camera was a bit on the blink...so many of the pics are kinda washed-out looking. But hopefully you can get an idea of how beautiful it was!

This was one of the views from our balcony...out overlooking Lake Atitlan.

We ate breakfast each morning on this beautiful outdoor patio.

Much time was spent just relaxing by the pool....looking out onto the four volcanoes that surrounded the lake. One of our friends said it looked like we were on the set of a James Bond film. :) It really did!

The hotel was decorated beautifully.

There were all kinds of wild life hanging out around the hotel gardens. Macaws, peacocks, parrots, spider monkeys....

The hotel had their own helipad. We watched the Canadian Ambassador fly in one afternoon.

Another view from our balcony.

Zach, Luke, and I took a hike up to one of the Natural Reserves. They put a harness on each of us at the beginning of the hike...and once we got to the top, we rode down 8 different ziplines across canyons, by a waterfall, down a beautiful mountain. It was so much fun!

Exploring a butterfly sanctuary.

More pretty gardens...

A look back up at the hotel from the pool.

At the wedding! It was a beautiful outdoor venue overlooking the lake...right at sunset.

The bride and groom! Mr. and Mrs. Sample.

The cakes under a gorgeous flower archway.

The bridesmaids and Heather.

One of the groomsmen, Chris "Kope", holding Colton.

Gini, Chris, and Shelley

Colton is Terah and Nate's little man....he was quite a hit at the wedding.

This is a "Tuk-Tuk"...kind of like a souped-up golf cart. It is their form of a taxi to get you around town. Very fun to ride in!

We went down into the little town of Panajachel one day to souvenir shop...

Colton and I hanging by the pool on our last day there.

The groomsmen surprised Chris and Heather by booking them a helicopter getaway for their honeymoon!

We all waved as the newliweds flew away into happily ever after.

Goodbye birdies.

This is definitely a place we'd like to visit again someday! Congrats Chris and Heather.... We love you!
