March Camping

March camping brought more fun for the Burton bunch.  It was much warmer this time!  And the powdered sugar donut breakfast continued to be the big hit of our time out in the country.  You just never know what's gonna strike a chord and become a "tradition".  Deets got to come with us this time too!  He loved romping around out there.  Here are some fun pics of our time together...

Those dimples are yummier than all that powdered sugar...

Tag loved the donuts almost as much as Beth.

Gathering kindling and firewood is the other big hit of our camping trips.  The kids think it's so much fun!

The country always puts things in perspective for me.  Thank you Lord for your creation....and thanks for letting us enjoy it and just be still.

Tacky Gingerbread Party

Many of you know that we have an annual tradition at our house around Christmas time- A Gingerbread House Decorating Party.  We have been doing this with our niece and nephew since Caroline was 4!  Anyway, this past Christmas was crazy.  Both Caroline and Peter were sick at different times in December...then we tried again in January and someone had the stomach bug.  Anyway, we decided to scrap it for 2008....until one fateful evening, March 20, 2009.  The kids came over to spend the night....we saw the gingerbread kits on the top shelf in the pantry....and wham!  The Tacky Gingerbread House Contest was born.

We thought about doing St. Patrick's day houses, or maybe even Easter houses.  Then Caroline came up with the "tackiest" idea.  We were sold!

Luke is our faithful construction engineer.

The girls went with the "Classic" motif...

Boys decided to build a Yoda house...

Caroline went with a tacky "Cabana" theme....

And then Tag woke up for some Wii time with Peter.  Yes, he just thinks he's playing...

Finishing touches...

Ta-da!  Yoda lives here.

Caroline of the Caribbean...

Tag's first fall

Tag bonked his noggin real good.  Actually can't believe it hasn't happened before now...he is such a rough and tumble kind of a boy!  We like to affectionately refer to him as Tag the Destroyer. :)  He was standing on the lid to the sandbox and just toppled forward face-first onto the driveway.  But didn't really slow him down one bit!
And incidentally, you get to see his first "buzz" haircut as well!  Thanks to Daddy....

Daddy Daughter Dance

Luke took Faith Anna in March to her second Daddy Daughter Dance.  They had so much fun getting all dressed up and going out on a date!  I'm so thankful that God gave me a man that loves to love on his little girls!

Basketball and Soccer days...

Logan's basketball team, The Prairie Creek Heat, got 2nd place this year!  We had so much fun watching him play.  He has really grown into a great ball player!  This season was especially funny because Tag didn't understand why he had to stay restrained in one of our laps during the games.  He was constantly pushing to get down, and when we'd let him, running out on the court to help Bubba.

And Miss Faith Anna is having a great soccer season.  She's quite a little ball-handler herself!  She scored three goals in this particular game and was so proud of herself.  We have two games left this spring...so the fun continues!

It was fun having grandparents there to cheer her on!

Jen and Austin came for a visit in February....and we got to celebrate Austin's 2nd birthday! Jen also shared with us some fun news....she and C.J. are expecting their 2nd baby! We are so excited. Austin shared the news with all of us on his T-shirt that said he was a big brother...baby coming in October! We are pumped!

They all got to come out and hear Logan, Faith Anna, and Beth sing in a choir musical at our church.  It's so fun to have such an awesome family...that's all fairly close-by....that can get together and share in the simple joys of life.  We are blessed!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Austin!  We love you!!!
